As promised, the following are the emails from Joleen. Really glad to be able to hear from her and receiving her long emails. Shall keep her mails.. Hehe..
The 1st (earlier) email on 17/01/2007:
Hi friends,
Happy New Year!
How are you? I am good.
I left sg last thurs and now i am in melbourne. my husband is being posted here so i applied 6mths' of no pay leave to accompany him. I wanted to spend more time with my family and settle my errands before i came so i couldn't find time to inform all of u... Sorry about it.
My laptop was down after the travelling..think it got homesick :) Thank God, my husband managed to repair it.
Now is mel 2.30am but i am still living in sg time 11.30pm. My husband is fast sleeping. For the past few days, I couldn't sleep early. The sun sets very late at 9pm. It makes me feel that the night is still young.
I enjoyed my stay here except yesterday. The weather was cooling 15-20 degrees but suddenly it turned so hot yesterday. 39 degrees. The sun was scorching and the heat wave was really terrible... i thought i was in hell 'cos it's like living in the furnance. I never sweat so much in my entire life .. I was in the city and so happy to see my tram coming... But I couldn't believe it, the tram has no air-con.....Really appreciate our MRT and SBS service :)
Anyway, hope everyone is healthy at home
Keep in touch...
God bless
Joleen
The 2nd (latter) email on 18/01/2007:
Hi Cailuan
Ya, i enjoy my life here and very reluctant to go back :)
I miss the friends in the company but not the work. :p
RMIT is in the city.. I roughly know where it is. Will you be coming here? I got a friend who studied in RMIT in sg and he came here for his project presentation. If you are here, contact me so we can catch up in the foreign land. :) This is your final year in school right?
Thanks for treating me as your big jiejie... :)
Be cool when you do your helpline duty. It takes a while. i was very worried when i first started doing the helpline calls. Dunno what difficult qns they will ask. But after a while, you got more experienced and it'll be fine. I believe you can do it. Keep it up :)
I do a lot of cooking here. Still not good at it but trying out new dishes everyday. The fresh food & fruits in the supermarket are quite reasonably priced or even cheaper than in sg. Anyway, eating out is very expensive 'cos they don't have as many food courts as sg. Eating out for simple food can cost like AUD10 per person per meal. I'm on NPL, no $ to spend so got to be thrifty and cook myself :)
Keep in touch & take care
Joleen
Looking forward to the next email and all emails from Joleen jiejie...
Cailuan =)
